Metronome drops its $100K/10M free usage allotment
Metronome's Startup plan no longer includes a free US$100,000 billing-volume / 10-million-event allotment — its 0.8% and $0.04-per-1,000-event rates now apply to all usage from the first dollar and first event, not just overages.

Metronome’s own pricing page (metronome.com/pricing, a Stripe product) dropped the included allotment it had carried since the Metronome unbundling from Stripe Billing on 2026-07-22 — captures pin the removal to sometime between 2026-07-29 (allotment still shown) and 2026-08-04 (allotment gone), with no changelog entry. Stripe’s own Metronome card on stripe.com/pricing did not follow suit at the same time: it kept showing “Included” with a US$100,000.00 billing allotment and 10 million usage events for three more weeks, through the 2026-08-26 capture. The 2026-08-27 capture is the first to show stripe.com/pricing matching metronome.com — both now read “Billing volume billed at 0.8%” and “Events volume billed at $0.04/1k ingest events” with no free threshold anywhere. For roughly three weeks, Stripe’s two own pricing surfaces for the same product disagreed about whether a free allotment existed.
For a usage-based business under the old $100,000/month billing-volume or 10-million-event thresholds, this is a move from $0 in Metronome fees to a live 0.8%/$0.04-per-1K bill from the first dollar and event. The Custom plan’s feature list (Salesforce/NetSuite/cloud-marketplace invoicing integrations, data-warehouse exports, dedicated account manager, enhanced SLAs) and Stripe Billing’s own 0.7% recurring-billing rate and Invoicing’s 0.4% per-paid-invoice rate were unaffected.
