Photoroom bills enterprise API customers on its own in-house quality gate, not raw generations

PhotoRoom pricing

Photoroom's Fidelity Layer - an in-house-trained visual language model that verifies each generated image against the source product - now gates enterprise billing directly: customers are only charged for images that pass the check ('pay-for-pass'), with failed outputs absorbed by Photoroom.

Before

Enterprise API usage billed per generation request, regardless of output quality (standard per-image API metering).

After

Enterprise Guarantee / pay-for-pass: 'The Fidelity Layer checks every generation and automatically catches fidelity failures before you're billed for output' - customers pay only for accepted images; Photoroom absorbs failed outputs.

Photoroom introduced its Fidelity Layer on 2026-08-06 as a product feature - “we train in-house visual language models to analyze product fidelity” to catch and localize generation errors before they reach a customer. On 2026-09-01 the company tied that system directly to enterprise billing under an “Enterprise Guarantee”: the Fidelity Layer now determines what counts as a billable output, so customers pay only for images that pass fidelity checks rather than for every generation attempt.

This is a genuine in-house build at the monetization layer, not just a quality feature: the billable unit for enterprise API customers shifted from “generation attempted” to “generation accepted,” with an ML system Photoroom trained itself acting as the metering gate. It also mirrors an internal cost signal - a concurrent Staff PM, Agentic & AI Platform posting tracks “inference cost per successful generation” as a core metric, the same unit (accepted output) enterprise customers are now billed on.

App plans repackaged: Free card dropped, absolute credit and export allowances published

The consumer pricing page dropped its Free card and now shows only Pro / Max / Ultra / Enterprise. Relative allowances ('5x AI image credit allowance', '500 Batch exports per month') were replaced by absolute published numbers — AI credits up to 8,000/25,000/75,000 per month and exports of 1,000/3,000/10,000 per month for Pro/Max/Ultra. Exports now count every saved image (editor, Batch, or Shopify sync), a new Core tools vs Credit AI tools split makes core editing credit-free, each paid plan includes a wallet of API/MCP credits worth the plan's price, and the billing toggle dropped Weekly for Monthly / Yearly (Save 33%). API per-image rates were unchanged (source: photoroom.com/pricing, accessed 2026-07-22).
