n8n swaps AI Workflow Builder credits for far larger AI Assistant credit allowances
n8n replaced the per-plan AI Workflow Builder credit line with AI Assistant credits, lifting Starter from 50 to 2,300 credits a month and Pro from 150 to up to 13,700. Plan prices unchanged.

n8n’s cloud plan cards now carry a second, much larger meter alongside monthly workflow executions. The “AI Workflow Builder credits” line that shipped 50 credits on Starter and 150 on Pro has been renamed to AI Assistant credits (preview) and scaled up roughly 46x and 91x respectively: 2,300/month on Starter and “Up to 13,700 AI credits/month” on Pro. n8n’s FAQ pins the Pro figure at “5,700 or 13,700 on Pro, depending on your plan size,” and free trials now include 800 credits “which expire when the trial ends.”
The most interesting part is what n8n did not do: credits cannot be purchased. The FAQ is explicit that the balance “refreshes every month, and unused credits don’t roll over. It’s not yet possible to buy additional credits, so if you regularly need more, upgrading to a higher plan is the way to get a larger allowance.” That makes the AI allowance an upgrade lever rather than a revenue meter — the opposite of the credit-pool monetization most AI-era SaaS has adopted. Enterprise lost its old 1,000 cloud-only credit line entirely; Business and Enterprise cards now read “AI Assistant coming soon,” and on self-hosted n8n you bring your own API key, “so no credit limits apply.”
The same capture shows a new saved-execution storage row in the plan-comparison table (2.5 GB / 25 GB / 50 GB across Starter / Pro / Enterprise), a “Data tables” feature row, and the debugging entry formerly labelled “AI Assistant” renamed to “Ask n8n AI.”
Plan prices did not move: Starter $20, Pro $50 and Business $800 per month billed annually ($24 / $60 / $960 billed monthly), with the Start-up plan still at $333/mo billed annually and Enterprise quoted by sales.
