Ideogram 4.0 lands in the in-app credit matrix at 4x the credit burn per image

Ideogram pricing

Ideogram added its 4.0 model to the consumer credit matrix priced per single image (2/4/6 credits) instead of per four images, so a bundled allowance buys about 4x fewer 4.0 generations.

Before

The pricing page's 'Using your credits' matrix listed only 3.0, 2a, 2.0, 1.0 and Upscale 1.0. Ideogram 3.0 charged 2 / 4 / 6 credits per FOUR images (Turbo / Default / Quality), and Ideogram 4.0 existed only on the separately-billed developer API rate card. Plan cards listed 'API access' as a bundled bullet on Free, Plus and Pro.

After

The matrix now leads with Ideogram 4.0 (2K) at 2 / 4 / 6 credits per SINGLE image (Turbo / Balanced / Quality) — the same credit numbers as 3.0 but a quarter of the output — while 3.0 and the older models keep their per-four-images rates. The 'API access' bullet was dropped from the Free, Plus and Pro cards, and the Enterprise card now reads 'volume discounts on the API (billed separately)'. Dollar prices are unchanged: Free $0, Plus $15/mo, Pro $42/mo, Team $20/user/mo (annual billing), Enterprise contact sales.

Ideogram kept every headline subscription price flat but changed what a bundled credit allowance actually buys. The “Using your credits” matrix on the pricing page now carries an Ideogram 4.0 (2K) row quoted per single image — 2 credits for Turbo, 4 for Balanced, 6 for Quality — where every older model is quoted per four images. A Plus subscriber’s 1,000 monthly priority credits therefore stretch to roughly 2,000 images on 3.0 Turbo but only about 500 on 4.0 Turbo.

That makes the newest model the first consumer SKU meaningfully rationed by the credit pool rather than by queue priority, and it widens the spread inside a single pool to about 48x: Ideogram 2a Turbo still costs 0.5 credits per four images while 4.0 Quality costs 6 credits for one.

The same capture shows Ideogram pulling the API further out of the subscription story. The “API access” bullet disappeared from the Free, Plus and Pro plan cards, and the Enterprise card’s volume-discount line was requalified as “volume discounts on the API (billed separately)”. The developer rate card itself was unchanged from the previous capture (4.0 Turbo/Default/Quality at $0.03/$0.06/$0.10, 3.0 at $0.03–$0.09, self-serve custom-model training at $40 one-time), while the developer docs added Webhooks plus asynchronous “Generate with Ideogram 4.0 via webhook” and “Poll a generation” endpoints.

Note on evidence: ideogram.ai/pricing served a Cloudflare challenge (HTTP 403) to the capture browser on 2026-07-22, so the consumer surface was read from the Internet Archive snapshot crawled 2026-07-09. The API pricing and developer docs pages were captured live.

Ideogram 4.0 enters the consumer credit matrix — priced per single image, not per four

Captured 2026-07-22 (USD): no dollar figure moved. Free $0 / Plus $15 / Pro $42 / Team $20-per-seat / Enterprise and the entire per-image API rate card ($0.02–$0.48) are unchanged from 2026-06-15. What changed is the denominator inside the in-app 'Using your credits' matrix: Ideogram 4.0 (2K) is listed at 2 / 4 / 6 credits per single image (Turbo / Balanced / Quality) while Ideogram 3.0 and every older model stay quoted per four images. Identical credit numbers, a quarter of the output — a Plus subscriber's 1,000 monthly priority credits stretch to roughly 2,000 images on 3.0 Turbo but only about 500 on 4.0 Turbo, and the spread inside one credit pool widens from about 12x to about 48x. The 'API access' bullet was also dropped from the Free, Plus and Pro plan cards and the Enterprise card now reads 'volume discounts on the API (billed separately)', separating the developer track from the subscription story. Developer docs added Webhooks plus asynchronous 4.0 generation and poll endpoints.
