Chargebee replaces Retention with Growth and adds a free CPQ line

Chargebee pricing

Chargebee's pricing page now runs four product tabs: Billing, CPQ, RevRec and Growth. Retention and Receivables are gone; CPQ Lite is free for 50 quotes.

Before

Billing (Starter free to $250K cumulative, Performance $599/mo to $100K/mo, Enterprise custom) plus three quoted add-on lines: Revenue Recognition, Retention and Receivables.

After

Four product tabs. Billing keeps Starter (USD 0/mo, free for the first USD 250K of cumulative billing, then 0.75% on billing), Performance (USD 7,188/yr, annual commitment billed monthly, for up to USD 100K billing/mo) and a quoted Enterprise. Retention is replaced by Growth (Starter $0 for Chargebee Billing customers with 1 play; Enterprise custom-priced on number of active subscribers with unlimited plays). A new CPQ line ships CPQ Lite free for the first 50 quotes on every Billing tier, with full CPQ quote-only. Receivables no longer appears on the pricing page.

Chargebee restructured its public pricing around four product tabs — Billing, CPQ, RevRec and Growth — and only the Billing tab carries a list price. The former Retention product line is gone, replaced by Growth, whose Enterprise tier is the first place Chargebee states “Scalable Custom Pricing based on number of active subscribers” as its meter; Growth Starter is $0 but is gated to existing Chargebee Billing customers and capped at a single experiment “play”. Receivables, previously one of the four quoted modules, no longer appears on the pricing page at all.

The bigger monetization move is the new CPQ line. CPQ Lite is free for the first 50 quotes and shows as included on all three Billing tiers, while full CPQ is quote-only — Chargebee is giving away entry-level quote-to-cash as an attach mechanism rather than selling it as a module. All three non-Billing lines carry the same qualifier: “available exclusively for Chargebee Billing customers.”

Billing’s own numbers are structurally unchanged but presented differently: Performance is now quoted as USD 7,188/yr (“Annual commitment / Billed monthly”) rather than a monthly figure, and its call-to-action is “Get a demo” rather than a self-serve checkout. Notably, the 0.75%-on-billing rate is published only for Starter — the page states no overage rate for billing above Performance’s USD 100K/mo allowance.

Chargebee's pricing page is now openly reachable and organised as four product tabs. Retention has been replaced by Growth (Starter $0 for Chargebee Billing customers; Enterprise custom-priced on the number of active subscribers) and a CPQ line has been added (CPQ Lite free for the first 50 quotes, included on every Billing tier; full CPQ quote-only). Receivables no longer appears on the pricing page. Billing keeps three tiers — Starter USD 0/mo free for the first USD 250K of cumulative billing then 0.75% on billing, Performance USD 7,188/yr (annual commitment, billed monthly) for up to USD 100K billing/mo, and quoted Enterprise — with Performance now leading to a demo rather than self-serve checkout.
