Claude Sonnet 5 launches at introductory $2/$10 per 1M tokens
Anthropic launched Claude Sonnet 5 as the new production-standard Sonnet tier at introductory $2/$10 per 1M tokens through Aug 31, 2026, then standard $3/$15 — undercutting the long-held Sonnet band during the intro window.
The current Sonnet tier was Claude Sonnet 4.6 at $3/$15 per 1M tokens (1M context).
Claude Sonnet 5 is the new production standard: introductory $2/$10 per 1M through August 31, 2026, then standard $3/$15 from September 1. Batch $1/$5 (intro) then $1.50/$7.50; full 1M context at standard rates. Sonnet 5 supersedes Sonnet 4.6.
Anthropic launched Claude Sonnet 5 as the new production-standard Sonnet tier. During the introductory window through August 31, 2026, Sonnet 5 is priced at $2 / $10 per 1M input/output tokens — below the $3/$15 anchor Sonnet has held since Claude 3. On September 1, 2026, standard pricing of $3/$15 takes effect. Batch API pricing follows at $1/$5 (intro) then $1.50/$7.50, and prompt-caching multipliers apply on top (cached read = 10% of base input, i.e. $0.20/1M at intro). Sonnet 5 includes the full 1M-token context window at standard rates and supersedes Claude Sonnet 4.6.
Two smaller changes shipped in the same window: Fast mode for Claude Opus 4.7 was deprecated (scheduled removal July 24, 2026, and already unavailable on Opus 4.6), and Microsoft Foundry joined Claude Platform on AWS as a Claude Consumption Unit (CCU) marketplace billing platform at $0.01/CCU. Claude.ai consumer, Team, and Enterprise pricing (Pro $17/$20, Team Standard $20/$25, Premium $100/$125, Enterprise $20/seat + usage) is unchanged.
